Thanks for visiting my site. I'm Mommy Jazz and I put up this site to give my insights as a parent of a child model. You will find great deal of tips on how to get your child into commercial modelling (in the Philippines). Please note that I'm not a talent scout nor a consultant. I appreciate comments and questions, even suggestions and corrections about my writing and the topic "getting your kid into commercial modelling". I am not connected or have inside connections with any agency, caster or the advertising industry. My ability as a stagemom is limited. I hope reading my blog can give you a headstart in getting your kid into modelling yourself, not thru me. With my work load as a freelance writer and a fulltime mom, I can not grant requests that I look into online albums and photo links to check if their child is "fit". If you think your child has the look, the talent and the will, then go get an agent. The best person to check his/her photo and to act as a consultant is a talent agent. List of agency email addresses is posted on my blog, please send your child's photo to them. I do not recommend any agency for reasons stated on my blog. Feel free to send me PM on personal concerns eg: "I have a problem with my agent" or any long story to tell. I reply to PMs so please don't hesitate. I hope you will find my site informative. Cheers to us stage parents!

This is our video entry for Nido Video contest on multiply. Julia almost made it as the Nido model in 2005 but lost the role to a half-Swedish boy, so now we made our own TVC. I am a 1-woman production crew and it took me a week producing this,... morePrevious videos: | ||

maureensalas62 wrote on Oct 3, '11 i agree with you ms. kimcheung ... my child had a vtr yesterday and got a call today from liahona casting agency saying she is now their talent and explains some details on how it works ... as many said workshop is needed to enhance the talent of a child ( which I guess in my own opinion is a must , except of course for those who think their child is talented enough and need not undergo such thing ;) ). like ms kimcheung said it's optional . Mommy Jazz i read one of your blog saying you encountered some positive but mostly negative things about liahona agency.. The fact that there is at least one positive comment about the agency (note: in my own opinion) is enough reason to try what they can do for my child .. Kung bakit may bayad ang workshop ,, well it is just like you enroll your child in a modelling school , kahit paano may natutunan ang bata .. For those moms na up to now wala pang project ang bata well maybe (let's face it) walang "it" factor or hindi marketable or wala pang project na fit sa qualifications nya ... BE PATIENT ika nga .. YOUR TIME WILL COME ... sana wala akong na offend mommy jazz for expressing my point of views .. salamat po sa space and more power! |
mskimcheung wrote on Aug 27, '11 thanks mommy jazz for the space |
mskimcheung wrote on Aug 27, '11 hi mga moms this is ms reena of liahona casting agency makati branch i think thats not fair nman po na gini generalize nio that" no one is succeded in our agency" as one of thier coordinators, i have kids na nabigyan q ng projects...and one more thing, we used the word "OPTIONAL " for the workshop coz its your option not us.. we are just giving advices but the final decision is still yours...if u agree wid it, well its ur choice but if u dont like workshop is your choice..never kmi namilit,,,,and besides we give u time to think not as rush as an hour. During the time we've given the feedback we said that before u enroll with our workshop asked your child first if they like not just what u like.. thanks |
partypalamuti wrote on Aug 13, '11, edited on Aug 13, '11 I already answered that on my blog How to get your Kid into Commercial Modelling http://partypalamuti.multiply.com/journal/item/1/How_to_get_your_Kid_into_Commercial_Modelling Check out paragraph titled: "I was told by a talent scout that my child should undergo a workshop under their agency. " |
amielletherese wrote on Aug 7, '11 hi mommy jazz! first of all, i would like to commend you for putting up this site. it really is a big help for us stage moms! :) anyways, last 2 sundays ago, my son who's 3.6 years old, and I was approached by a lady who said she's from Liahona Agency and invited us for VTR. I searched on the net for any negative article Liahona, but found none (as far as ive checked), so we went to their office last sunday. After the VTR, they said they'll contact us.. I received an sms saying that my son passed the vtr and to contact them, so I did. They said my son is now considered as one of their talents and there;s an option for me to enroll him to their workshop, but for a fee. What's your say on this, mommy jazz? Other mommies' advice will be appreciated too. Thanks! |
partypalamuti wrote on Jul 9, '11 A child or a baby can be a talent at any age. There is a section in my blog that covers this. Get in touch with an agent who will help you on how to go about the works. Check my list for contact numbers and blog on how-tos and what to say. No agency charges a fee in having a talent VTRd for their file. No reason to promote that it's "free". Again, if you think your child has the look and talent, go get an agent. Thanks for the input dancingfountain. I couldn't agree more. |
dancingfountain wrote on Jun 25, '11 We also attended the free vtr and orientation. I searched on this casting agency, as a parent I would also want to know what I'm are getting into for my child before the orientation so I was able to gather some feedbacks...just search in the internet the name of that agency. I read what's on the agency's wall and scanned the place itself. My wonder was they didn't have any landline. The agency is legit, they comply with government regulations and transparent of what they could give. The workshop is a compulsary so they could evaluate your child's performance/improvement to be considered part of the cast...but an option for the parent to decide if your child really needs it. There really is no guarantee your child will be chosen to be the model because you have to see the facts and figures/ratio how many are attending the workshop and how many will be chosen |

partypalamuti wrote on Mar 17, '11 As I mentioned in my site's introduction, if you think that your child has potential and you both want to try (as a stagemom to a kid model), go get an agent. Please check my blog for how-tos. It is an advantage if the child is talented and directable (can follow instructions from other people). |
momyjzer wrote on Mar 16, '11 hi mommy jazz... ask ko lang sana kung mas may chance po ba na mapili ung baby na maraming alam... i have a 2 year old son and at his age alam nya n po ung alphabet A-Z na basahin ng kahit hindi sunod sunod. and also numbers... marami po kc nagsasabi na pwede syang maging comrcial model.. sa tingin nyo po? |

partypalamuti wrote on Feb 3, '11 Madami pong agents and daughter ko. Most I am not often in touch or had long relations with so I can't tell how good all the staffs are or the way they manage. I do not recommend any agency for reasons stated on my blog. Remember, walang perfect agency. |
enirnna wrote on Feb 1, '11 happy birthday mommy jazz.. ask ko lang po kung what agency ung baby nyo? |
partypalamuti wrote on Jan 30, '11, edited on Jan 31, '11 In some contract, it is stipulated when the pay should be given. If it isn't stated, ask your agent. Don't hesitate to make a follow up and continue with the follow-up if the pay date has lapsed. Usually 3 months ang waiting time. Personally, I would allow up to 6 months kung valid naman ang reason na agent kung bakit delayed. The usual reason is that the client hasn't paid them yet. |
azieldaenielle wrote on Jan 26, '11 hi po mommy jaz ask ko lang po ganu po ba ktgal ibgay ung talent fee kung hndi pay after? please mommy jazz answer this. tnx po in advance. |

partypalamuti wrote on Dec 6, '10 I often get this question: To workshop or not? Usual reason that holds them is the cost and the guarantee. I would like everyone to consider the quality as well. Since workshops does not guarantee a project for your kid, learning from it can spark a talent in him in the future on or off cam. So make sure that the acting coach is credible and the scope is in a "professional level". Workshop takes more than just getting the kids dance together. Going back to the question, this is my advice: If your child is interested and has the looks and talent, sign him under a different agency that does not offer workshop or exclusivity (so you can change agents later). Your kid will still get to experience product VTRs and go-sees. Practice makes perfect so don't expect you'll get the gold on the first, second, even third try. If the child really needs to work on his talent which is beyond Mommy and Daddy's coaching skills, then it's time to sign him with another agency that offers workshop. |
partypalamuti wrote on Dec 4, '10, edited on Dec 6, '10 Most talent agencies do not require workshop. The only agencies I have heard of that offers workshop are Liahona and Nephite and this is for a fee. I have not heard of any agency that offers free workshop. For my opinion on workshops, please read thhe Workshop portion of http://partypalamuti.multiply.com/journal/item/1 Please remember that undergoing workshops does not guarantee of getting picked for a project. |
talulajade wrote on Dec 2, '10 meron po bng casting agency na di mo na d n po kailangang mgundergo ng workshop or kaya they do workshops but for free? pls mommy jazz reply poh kau. |
partypalamuti wrote on Nov 26, '10 @lizchelle The 1st statement that was told you is more promising than the old statement "we'll call you" (Short for "don't call us, we'll call you") which commonly means, you got rejected. Some magazines now make use of online stock photography. They will sign up for a paid account and select over 100,000 photos they can use for their articles. This way, it's cheaper for the magazine than hiring a photographer, paying a model and scouring for a location. This also helps them if they are short of staff. I started joining photo contests in magazines. This is an easier way of seeing your kid in the glossy pages of your fav mag than getting a call from an Editor. Tip: Don't make "kulit" the Editor by calling/email them asking when they will call you. They get turned off by this. If you don't get a call in 6 mos, take a new photo of your kid and re-send it saying that you are just updating your kid's file with them should a need arise on their part. Goodluck! |
lizchelle27 wrote on Nov 26, '10 "Be rest assured that I will contact you should the need arise''. mommy jazz.. paki interpret naman po ito,, pg ganto po ba reply sa inyo ibig sabihin my pag asa si Baby ko nagsend ako ng pics nya e sa isang mag..or parang "we'll call you lang din to" ?? thanx,..masayang masaya nako if makita ko c Lana sa magazine kahit sobrang kapiranggot pa non :) |
kgaujero wrote on Nov 25, '10 Mommy Jazz, thats why umalma ako when she mentioned lingerie. I was on the look out na hindi ako peperahan kasi wala namang hinihingi, yun pala iba naman ang raket nito. I posted a warning on the page of that Dept. Store to warn the parents and kids about this kasi andaming mga bata dun sa friends list nya. I did not delete the messages she sent me para ma trace ko pag nag iiba ng name though di kami friends sa FB. True enough, nagpalit na nga sya ng name and picture. It was really creepy. Thanks for the advice Mommy Jazz. |
partypalamuti wrote on Nov 25, '10 @kgaujero That's weird! If she needs a video of your daughter for her file, all she can ask is just a short clip (mpeg) of her in a plain, well lighted room. She'll just face the camera and smile, mention name, age, hobbies. Like in any typical VTR, side view, face the camera and smile. Checking the talents up close is the job of the caster. Hindi siya caster, coordinator lang siya. We're not even sure if she's a real coordinator. Are you sure babae talaga yung kausap or ka chat niyo? Nakakapag taka when she mentioned "lingerie". That's scary. Deal only with an agent or a talent agent representative. Ask her name and her agency (ask for a card). To be sure, search for the agency on the net and check its standing and reputation and get the tel number yourself. Call and ask if the person who approached or got in touch with you is really connected with them. I brought my daughter for a go-see once for so-en kasi they are to release a line for kids. Barbie underwear yata. I was there in the same room, even dressed my daughter myself. It was at the so-en office and all the staff, were women. Hindi ko pinilit ang daughter ko who was 5 then. She's used to wearing 2 pc when we go to the beach so being photographed in underwear is fine with her. I'm just sharing this to give you an example of what a legit underwear go-see or VTR is. Nothing suspicious, nothing forced, all decent. @bcg05 You need to check Liahona's website. Sila lang ang nakakaalam kung ilan at sinu-sino ang mga naging successful talents nila. There are a lot of successful stagemoms like me who signed our kids with different agencies but only a few of us who has access and time to post good experiences in the internet. Pls check the Feb 9 post of mskimcheung. |
